"Better than Most in the Field"
Iranian student Mohammad Mansouryar wants to lead a world wide
revolution in physics, but is anyone listening?
On Saturday, July 1st, 2006, I received the following request from
physicist Jack Sarfatti, in San Francisco:
"Hey Gary what's the name of that kid from Tehran you told me about a
year ago or so? I forgot his name. Are you still in touch with him? Does
he have a web page?"
In a follow up email Sarfatti explained that "the reason I asked is that
a member of the USG [United States Government] asked me my opinion on
the above work by Mohammad Mansouryar..." When asked, "Can he push the
state of the art and is this work technically competent?" Sarfatti had
replied, "It's better than most in the field."
Someone in the government had been checking around asking about
Mansouryar and wanted to know more about his research. Obviously
Mohammad was someone Starstream Research needed to keep an eye on. In
fact I had already alerted Sarfatti to Mansouryar in November of 2004,
when I discovered a paper he had posted at the physics archive at
www.arXiv.org about the generation of
'exotic matter' from the physics of the quantum vacuum.
In January of 2006, Tim Ventura, of American Antigravity, published an
excellent interview with Mohammad Mansouryar, who is known to his
friends as Mammad. Mammad discussed with Ventura his interests in the
kind of spacetime physics he calls "distance reduction," achieved in his
theory by synthesizing subluminal warp drive with worm hole theory.
Mammad was described as a young visionary, and according to Ventura's
interview, he was born on November 22, 1983, in Karaj, Iran.
Not long after the inquiry from Sarfatti, numerous phone messages from
Iran were left on the Starstream Research voice mail. It was quickly
apparent that Mammad was a very persistent young man. A flurry of emails
from Mammad accompanied the phone messages, requesting that I write a
story about his research interests in worm holes and warp drives.
Mammad lamented, "Those [previous] stories haven't aggravated my
situation in Iran, but surely have not been enough intriguing for the
related authorities in America! They've driven me to the conclusion that
more serious actions are needed to shake them and if not worked, forget
your country ... Maybe if the American guy's 'in the defense and
intelligence community' would understand the importance of my plan as
the biggest possible 'Spacetime Threat Assessment Report,' I would have
been in the States before it's TOO late."
All of this was happening during a very sensitive time, when the United
States was challenging Iran's leadership over the development of nuclear
technology. According to Tim Ventura, Mammad had been selected to learn
'atomic' physics and had studied at the University for three and a half
years. Starstream Research was simultaneously on the periphery of
another 'official' investigation involving alleged forgery and possible
counter-intelligence operations within the United States. One of our
contributing associates commented, "I think you might be in over your
head on this one ... drop him would be my advice."
Sarfatti, who is not exactly known for his conservative nature and
carefully considered opinion, offered another take on Mammad's possible
motivations:
"He could be an Iranian agent." I took note of the fact that Sarfatti
had also forwarded this opinion to a contact at the Defense Intelligence
Agency.
In fact what had motivated Mammad was a behind the scenes debate over a
paper he had submitted to STAIF-2007.
STAIF, the Space Technology and Applications International Forum,
features a section on future exotic propulsion technology, including
theoretical explorations of warp drives and worm holes, with an eye
towards potential ground-breaking experiments.
Mammad was adamant about his desire to come to the United States, and to
seek out financial backing to conduct experiments. I wrote to a
well-placed contact of Starstream Research, a person I suspected was
required to report any unusual contacts with foreign nationals:
"My sense is that Mammad is suffering from that future 'vision' thing
and sees two paths laid out before him ... I would appreciate a response
from you on this issue. Mammad has been calling me from Iran almost
every day for the last week."
Mammad had emailed, "I only have two ways: becoming the next Dr.
Abdolghadir Khan and selling my expertise to this damn regime to
threaten the civilized people, or leaving here for testing other
chances."
I pointed out that the American physicist, Dr. Hal Puthoff, had
previously confirmed to Starstream Research that the exotic physics
Mammad intended to pursue had the potential of producing new kinds of
weapons of mass destruction, a bitter side-effect that the propulsion
community had apparently swept under the rug.
Our contact responded, "Is this guy real, in your mind this time? Does
he have good data other than Theoretical Physics? Designs? Patents? If
so ... by all means report to [redacted] straightaway ... Importantly,
[redacted] ... like you and me and Hal ... are not interested in working
on anything that is yet another weapon. Especially a weapon that can
kill lots of civilians. For any reason whatsoever. Now, working on
trying to figure out IF such a program exists is another story."
In the interview with Ventura, Mammad had claimed that "I am ready to
perform the preliminary tests in a suitable lab, and I estimate the
necessary budget for that experimental phase shouldn't exceed more than
$10 million dollars."
Meanwhile Mammad had supplied me with an email from Dr. Eric Davis, an
associate of Hal Puthoff. Davis had recently achieved his ten minutes of
fame as the author of a controversial paper on teleportation funded by
the USAF. Davis addressed his analysis of Mammad's paper to STAIF's Paul
Murad at the United States Department of Defense, and a couple of
scientific advisors. Davis had been particularly critical of Mammad's
submission, noting that "Mansouryar's paper, posted in its entirety last
year on arXiv.org, is not original material and should be rejected."
In response to Davis' criticism, Murad forwarded the comments to Mammad,
noting that "if you have any new ideas to offset this reviewer's claims,
I would be very interested in seeing this."
Mammad addressed various technical issues brought up by Davis, writing
"Eventually I thank all you guys who care about such conversations, and
I hope the fruit of our scientific efforts on FTL [faster than light]
travels would be in favor of all humanity."
Dr. Eric Davis responded to our inquiry about STAIF and Mammad's paper,
offering his expert opinion that in spite of what he described as
numerous 'technical errors,' Mammad's work was "well laid-out and
thought out."
Strangely Davis also wrote back to us that "Mansouryar still does not
provide his employment or university affiliation in his communications
or paper submissions to professional conferences ... He also does not
provide his DOB [date of birth] so we don't know how old he is. He
continues to keep his background a complete mystery."
Davis' comments were unusual given that Tim Ventura had provided answers
to these questions in the on-line interview at American Antigravity back
in January. One of Ventura's associates at American Antigravity is Paul
Murad, and we found it hard to believe that Davis had been left in the
dark about Mansouryar's background.
Mammad provided us with additional background information, stating that
his father works for the Agricultural Department and his mother is an
educational advisor in psychology. He is the eldest of three brothers.
Frustrated by the red tape associated with his outreach to the west, he
wrote of his "... plan to present my ideas to regimes which are the
potentially enemies of the west ... to motivate to work on my theory, is
fearing of using it in a war ..." Later he clarified this remark
stating, "By the term 'regimes which are the potential enemies of the
west,' I didn't mean only Iran ... giving my genius to China, and Russia
could be a good choice. I have nothing to loose and the love to work on
wormhole physics, can draw me behind of the forbidden walls of the China
or the cold deserts of Russia."
Mammad also provided us with copies of replies he had received from
DARPA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the U.S.
Department of Energy, NASA and others.
"I love propulsion methods ONLY based on distance reduction, and not
anything else."
Mammad wrote to us that his STAIF-2007 paper "presented six ways" to
create negative energy, "the only obstacle of creating a worm hole."
"It is clear if I'd come there [United States] and my dreams [could] be
realized, I'd become an effective guy and surely rich."
On September 28th, 2006, I received the following confirmation from Paul
Murad:
"Gary: His paper has been accepted at STAIF. All he has to do are minor
corrections."

Starstream Research Interviews Iranian Physicist Mohammad Mansouryar
SSR: The world has lived under
the threat of nuclear fire from an atomic war
for more than a half century, and in all of that time we have not heard
of
any new, viable weapons of mass destruction appearing on the horizon.
Politicians remain focused on the proliferation of nuclear technology,
such
as under development in your home country of Iran. Do you believe that
the
governments of the world have been conducting secret research into new
technologies that might someday replace atomic devices as the ultimate
weapons of mass destruction
Mammad: I'm not sure Gary, but its
probability sounds low. Like many others,
I've heard about Death Ray Weapon or potential nightmares of X-Ray
laser,
but I have a different viewpoint.
Consider the dangers of current atomic weapons, expenses for supporting
their security, fear of using them in a classic war or by terrorist
groups,
troubles of successful hitting them to a target, and converting them as
a
prestigious symbol of the having nations, while I feel that's not a real
honor for the
people. If we in the south countries, or you in the west are proud of
ability to destroy the human beings, that would be a sign of throughout
depression, frustrated to improve the global situations by peaceful
approaches. In the modern era, no government imagines an extensive
assault
on a location causing the effects more than that of a nuclear
bombarding.
Anyway, I can last my justifications for a long time for you that the
general psychological conditions of the world do not accept such
weapons,
however that can be felt naturally. For example, if America announces
inventing such kind of innovations while is not in a serious conflict
with
China or Russia, they might threaten to exit the UNO and deny their
global
responsibilities until a new military balance, moreover they might found
an
extreme desire to apply their H-bombs, as soon as feeling the tiniest
suspicious sign, like biting a man by a terrified snake, because it
feels
being weaker. Since researching on military inventions originates from
the
fear of "others," I think more and more education by the independent
mass
media, along with more clearance and highest precision toward minimizing
the
mistakes in military decisions in free countries, plus most extreme and
roughest global observations on dictator regimes and/or with retarded
culture, having old conflicts with neighbors, unusual nationalist roots
in
their history, etc, could help to not watching a warfare by more
deathful
devices. As a good news, if I'd realize a practical space warp, that
would
imply fundamentally novel orders of using the mass destruction weapons.
SSR: How do you foresee the
governments of the world responding to the
military implications of worm hole technology?
Mammad: Well, answering to this
question needs citing some psychological
facts. I think people most commonly terrify of the phenomena that do not
know and have an unpleasant feeling - by the instinct - toward something
they cannot recognize. When a place, a stuff or a face is unfamiliar to
you,
your natural behavior is taking a defense guard, up to habituating with
the
surrounding. Therefore, what is the source of this sense? Survival!
Disregarding suicide committers among some humans and dolphins, all
organic
systems try to live and stay alive, longer and better. Wormhole
technology,
like any sort of communicational technology, has one basic goal: taking
something from the point A, to the point B (safer, and more rapidly).
Remember the history of with-wire and wireless telephones, cars and
tanks,
planes and fighters, telescopes and satellites, missiles and shuttles,
ships
and submarines, etc and see how they found application in the wars. All
of
them have the role of contact, deliver something to another, and gather
more
information for a better knowledge. Wormhole technology can be analyzed
within this frame. I've heard there is a motto in Texas, which is: "God
created the people and Colt made them equal," but equal in what? Killing
each other! Well, that's the American style of living and has some good
and
some bad features. No matter how much you're strong, if you can hurt or
kill
me, I might be unable to hurt you, but I can kill you. Now, generalize
this
picture to a world where every country has the capability of achieving
others without any serious trouble. For instance, White House might be
afraid of conventional bombs of the North Korea, not even the
unconventional
ones! So the immediate cure to that end, if all would make an agreement
that
life is a good thing for us (and should be good for others too), and we
do
not intend to die in a war (at least until a second announce), is try to
become the world more ethical. However, it seems like a dream, but has
the
most importance. I guess and hope this technology would cause to deep
modifications in the UNO, toward establishing a real "global republic."
By adopting a suitable policy, fighting for the ground gets meaningless
(more than now). Hitler attacked on Poland in 1939, and said the Germany
needs more "living space." When there is no serious physical distance,
satisfying such a "need" would not require a war.
Also, (as far as I know) chemical weapons made much disasters during the
WW
I, but since both main fronts had sufficient amounts of them, a somehow
military balance was created during the WW II, of course just in this
particular field. We observed a similar balance to nuclear devices,
during
the cold war, that fortunately passed, without a nuclear military
madness.
Although, as it is quite clear, such kind of balances are very unstable.
The
decision of President Nixon to nuke Vietnam for a fast ending of war, or
the
crisis of Cuba in the time of President Kennedy which took the world, on
the
verge of a dark era and finishing the civilization and many other cases
which come from the violent trends inside of us, show the only way is
adopting more civilized manners.
Other vital factor is finding the ability to going beyond the earth and
colonizing some spheres in the solar system (and as the next steps which
I
guess would be out of my lifetime, other galaxies). I think no moron who
wants the "universe," starts the task from launching a war on the earth
while his/her project can be initiates much more easily by dealing with
other distant planets! Wow! I feel it is an interesting idea to have an
appointment with George Lucas, isn't it Gary?
Eventually I should say, wormholes could confirm the differences between
us,
terrify of being hit by the bombs from every point of the spacetime, and
give huge contributions to realize the famous predictions of Samuel
Huntington, OR (a vital "or") more peace, tolerance, and enjoy of
living.
SSR: Do you believe that other
intelligent beings are already using worm
hole technologies to visit the Earth?
Mammad: No other mechanism can do
the deal. Simply consider the cosmic
distances, and the technical difficulties of traveling through this
vast,
full of wandering masses universe by a
spaceship with relativistic velocities. I completely believe the beings
who
have come to the earth from other stellar systems, have used a kind of
"distance reduction" propulsion. The best 4D design in general
relativity is
mine, however I don't say anything on the higher dimensional theories.
SSR: What are the implications for
time travel and the theory of a
multiverse coming from practical worm hole technology?
Mammad: I think, at this part of my
life, the time travel, and indeed more
exactly, the causality violation is impossible. However the history of
science is full of the stories about derivation some applications from a
formula or a theory, quite far from the author's intents. BTW, I cannot
say
you any specific idea about the relation between a practical spacetime
shortcut and the theory of the multiverse, because it seems my model
works
in one universe
SSR: What range of technologies do
you envision coming from wormhole
technology, from communications to mass transit?
Mammad: I count some of them, let
the remaining be done by imagination of
yourself and the readers.
First application: It would be traversing the gross bulks of materials.
Gas, oil, gasoline, water to become sweet, minerals, etc could be
extracted from the earth and other planets and asteroids, and be sent to
any desired location via a wormhole gate.
Second: The oxygen and artificial clouds can be sent to the appropriate
atmospheres like that of Mars. The project of increasing the pressure
and pumping the air to the Mars could be directed from the earth, plus
under surface installations.
Third: The companies that produce airplane, ship, train, car, and any
other
transporting (note, not exactly industrial or agriculture) vehicles,
should
think more about the entertainment and ease aspects, because if one aims
to
just go to somewhere, the first option would be through a civil
wormhole;
but if one wants to see the environment and have more pleasure before
reaching to destination, passing through a wormhole is actually too
fast.
Fourth: All the dictators would have to go to the hell, or give up the
people. In fact, this technology, converts the world to a biggest city.
When
you can go to everywhere you like within the least time, no political
regime
can limit you by rotten rules. Being as free as the public conscience
allows.
Fifth: It's not possible nor reasonable to remove the national borders
soon.
However, I predict forming great blocks of countries with common values.
For
example I guess some years after realizing this technology, borders
between
America and Canada would get a funny joke. That probably would be the
same
for some Arabic, Latin, African, etc countries. Although, as I mentioned
above, it's a subtle procedure and MUST NOT lead to confirming the
differences
Sixth: There are millions of kilometers of the wire, cable, and cord
throughout the world to transform the electricity. If we could connect
the
source and the consumer closer by a wormhole, that would be a dramatic
reduction in the amounts, expenses, and dangers of such bulk of cables
in
the world. More applications are able to discover only after gaining
some
experiences.
SSR: Do you believe that in the
future our understanding of information will evolve to the point that we
replace our massive material selves with massless information bodies?
Mammad: I think my answer is yes.
That seemingly has been an ancient dream of the human race. I believe
some stories about Indian fakirs or Shaloin fighters with extra-ordinary
capabilities.
For we easterners, believing such stuffs is very easy. However, all I
can
tell you about this subject has nothing to do with the science and are
pure
faith. To the best of my knowledge, these matters are in the stage of
being
under research, so judging on them is not professional.
SSR: Do you see technology and
metaphysical ideas merging or
moving apart from the integration of technology and the human mind?
Mammad: Studying the effects of mind
on the body has been an old and
permanent loving task for me. Frankly, if the purpose of science and its
fruit technology, is a more knowledge, we must dare to deal with
metaphysical regions, simply because they are a part of our world and
indeed sometimes are much serious for a considerable number of people.
Surely dreaming about a world with the least distance among the things,
and familiar with the metaphysical concepts and mental powers of the
humans, is a promising work that motivates many ones to realize it.
