(STARpod.org) -- The truth is often stranger than fiction. In fact, it is often stranger than we can imagine.

Imagine then my surprise to learn that a few highly placed individuals are convinced the government is keeping an incredible secret: the "Core Story," a tale of extraterrestrial visitation.

According to sources, who remain unidentified to protect their relationship to the government, there have been three visitations from beyond the Earth, known to an elite group of government officials.

Three years have been given: 1947, 1983, and 1992.

And, as with all things associated with this story, there is absolutely no confirming evidence.

The "Core Story" is hearsay, at best.

KNOWING THE FUTURE: THE UFO SPY GAMES

Read the new paperback edition of the mini-book series by Gary S. Bekkum. Available now from Amazon CreateSpace $5.95 USD

This was not the first time I heard of the "Core Story."

As a child who was born at the start of the space age (with the launch of the Soviet Sputnik artificial satellite, an event that would drive America headlong into a space race with the Russians) I was quickly enamored of Saturday morning space operas.

Following several years of fascination with film and television fantasies of extraterrestrial space explorers, I read the infamous Condon report, commissioned by the Air Force, and that was, it seemed, the last word.

UFOs were not, after all, visitors from other worlds. It was official.

Government investigations of UFOs, notably Project BLUE BOOK, came to an end.

As I learned more about physics, I quickly realized the energy required to traverse vast interstellar distances was so enormous, that "Star Trek" travel among the stars would forever remain glued to the pages of science fiction.

It seemed that the "core story" had died before it was given birth.

As the tumultuous 1960s gave way to the disclosures of the 1970s, it was the human mind that was seen at the forefront of alternative interests.

Meanwhile, the US government secretly continued to explore mind-control research which had covertly begun shortly after World War II, in the early 1950s.

Intelligence services were intrigued by the possibility that human potential might be expanded to their spy trade crafts.

In 1983, which also happens to be the date given for the "second visitation" of our friends from somewhere, out there, over the cosmic rainbow, a man I call "Sarge" told me the United States Air Force was involved in some very strange business "involving the UFOs."

"If you knew what was really going on," Sarge told me, "You wouldn't be able to sleep at night."

Apparently Sarge hadn't been sleeping so well either, and felt the need to get this "secret" off his chest.

Naturally, I thought that Sarge was paranoid and was spreading rumors he had heard through the Air Force grapevine.

I never paid much attention to the growing UFO movement, which was fueled at that time by a series of mysterious documents about an alleged super-secret government project run by a committee known as MAJESTIC 12, or simply MJ12, under a security rubric called MAJIC.

And so, I filed away the story in the back of memory, until 1987, when I saw an advertisement for a UFO disclosure special called "UFO Cover-Up Live."

At the core of this version of events, MAJESTIC 12 and visitor space aliens --  extraterrestrial biological entities -- who were guests of the government.

Something jarred my memory, and I recalled "Sarge" and his otherworldly tales from the Air Force.

And then I watched the show, and once again quickly stored the memory in the dusty cobwebs of my mind along with the science fiction pulp novels I read in my youth.

Tales of alien ambassadors with a preference for strawberry ice cream was enough to make me flip the channel.

"Nonsense!"

Once again, I was content to shelve any idea of an extraterrestrial reality.

Who needed outer space intelligence, when the infinitely creative powers of the human mind seemed every bit as powerful, and far more accessible?

I didn't know that deep inside the government, groups of individuals had connected the core of the story to those mental powers.

Psychic spies, called "remote viewers," were being trained, tested, and deployed by the Defense Intelligence Agency, as part of a Project STAR GATE.

Some of the psychic spies were having issues with an "extraterrestrial intelligence" they encountered during their mental excursions into space and time.

And at least some in the government were paying close attention.

What really drew in my curiosity was the interest a few well placed individuals in anomalous dream events.

It seemed that an odd dream experience held more import for certain experts called upon to serve the political powers of national defense.

This year, I hope to bring a little more light into the dance of light and shadow on the "wilderness of mirrors" at the entrance to the core story.

A great deal has been written about the legends, but I am interested in the core itself.

Given a handful of clues, a few good tales, some very bad science fiction, and the occasional fact and rumor, we will soon begin to enter the door to the dark secret.

By necessity, this adventure must come to the reader in the form of an allegory: a tale, told in first person as fact, concealed and wrapped in metaphor and allusion.

The tale of the "Core Story" is an adventure and an encounter with something greater than we know.

It is an encounter with something greater than we can know.

At best, our encounter is the registration of a change within. We may not be able to contain the inexplicable within the finite resources of the human mind, but we may learn a lesson or three from the journey.

Our core story will begin with the ghost of the former Director of Central Intelligence, Richard Helms.

To be continued ...

Knowing the Future
THE UFO SPY GAMES

CIA, 9/11, UFOs, and the Extraterrestrial Presence

The real-life business of the government's X-files remains hidden in plain sight. The government claims "we can neither confirm nor deny" that documents exist showing extraterrestrial objects have been tracked as they enter the Earth's air space. Meanwhile a handful of very high ranking intelligence officials play out spy games on the Internet about reverse engineering alien technology and a former CIA Deputy Director for Intelligence is implicated in the sordid affair.

The core of this story involves high level government intelligence persons and SERPO, a "soap opera" about US government contact with an extraterrestrial alien intelligence.

This is a record of SPY GAMES -- PLAYED INSIDE THE UFO MYSTERY, AND ON THE INTERNET -- as it happened.

From the world of psychic spies, paranormal goat killers, and Skinwalkers haunting remote regions of Utah, something wicked and wacky this way comes. Drawn from the files of the private intelligence source STARstream Research: A real-life tall-tale of espionage. At the core, a confrontation at CIA HQ between a former CIA official and officers of the United States Air Force. Twenty years later, the game continues where disturbing worlds collide. The heart of the matter: a US Government UFO Working Group, dark secrets kept in the shadows under the guise of counter-intelligence operations of the United States Air Force, and decades-old rumors of extraterrestrial contact with "something not of this world." The Official's concern: hidden within tales of "Real Life X-Files" a potentially dangerous viral marketing scheme, possibly intended to elicit real classified information from past and present intelligence officers.

Stranger still, government files prove that the US government spent decades exploring the paranormal psychic spying, in an effort to "know the future" and beat the Russians, in a race to obtain technologies from beyond our world.

This book is a collection of articles and materials originally published on-line by STARstream Research, PR Web, and The American Chronicle, and at the "Spies, Lies, and Polygraph Tape" blog. This is the first time they have been made available in print. Included in this volume is the popular article "To the Moon and Back, With Love," the story of CIA psychic Ingo Swann's extraterrestrial encounters.

Also included in this volume: The sixteen part mini-book "Knowing the Future: CIA, 9/11, UFOs, and the Extraterrestrial Presence," about the race to obtain "alien" technologies.
