UFO Spy Games, Secrets and Conspiracies
LAST UPDATED 01/21/2012 04:39 AM CDT (STARpod.org) -- Lately, we've been encountering more and more outrageous claims and misplaced interpretations of the secret world of UFO and extraterrestrial inspired science fiction technology. The latest hot controversy landed on our plate when we acknowledged the existence of bits and pieces of claims made by Laura Magdalene Eisenhower concerning a secret Mars mission project. Again, and this is for the record: there are certain aspects to this story which evolved from reality, and were not made up whole cloth from the imagination of Laura Eisenhower. Their interpretation, and extension to bizarre conspiracy-based science fiction, is another matter altogether. The heart of the matter, as told in my new book Spies, Lies, and Polygraph Tape, is the reality of a hidden world of UFO Spy Games. I have been thinking about the difference between legitimate secrets and conspiracies in the weird world of UFOs. In the age of the Internet, the better (and farther out) the tale, the greater the chance of creating a viral success story. Unfortunately, the truth is not a necessary ingredient. This is even more true in the uncomfortable world of counterintelligence activities. During the collection phase of STARstream Research, we were concerned with real verifiable open-source information. Our key focus was on the possibility, no matter how remote, of superluminal fast-than-light speed influences from quantum effects in the brain-mind system. In the late 1990s, I contacted Shan, a quantum scientist in Beijing, who had written a paper describing an experiment to test human conscious perception against ordinary mechanical quantum events. I knew that Shan's idea, if realized, pointed the way to a new communication channel beyond conventional technology: Shan described a kind of mental 'telepathy' he believes exists at the interface of the quantum world and our perception of reality. And it was, at least in principle, testable and verifiable. More importantly, success would have broken the stranglehold conventional quantum mechanics has on human mind science: can the human mind perceive two worlds at the same time, where scientific measurement only observes one? Ten years later, discussions were held in Beijing between Shan, and Chinese and American researchers interested in bringing his idea to reality. Although we have not heard whether or not further progress has been made towards the realization of Shan's experimental goal in China, we are able to report that our US source tells us the idea remains in limbo, at least for the time being. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW KNOWING THE FUTURE: THE UFO SPY GAMES In the not too distant past, an idea like Shan's would have been given plenty of secret or confidential treatment by the US government. How do we know that to be the case? By examining declassified files from fifteen to twenty years ago, where similar ideas were considered highly sensitive and real government interest was a closely held secret. All of the above is merely a case example of how an open-source (Shan's pre-print draft paper published at the international on-line physics archive) evolves into more interesting possibilities. Confidences and secrets are not necessarily evidence of conspiracy. They are a fact of life and a way of conducting daily business in an increasingly competitive world. And then, there are the real conspiracies. The US government -- as witnessed by files on the record -- has been involved in extremely questionable activities. As a case example -- the one pointed to by Laura Magdalene Eisenhower -- is the notorious CIA MKULTRA series of mind control experiments, involving human experimentation on unwitting victims. Present day events do not rest on a vacuum: there are long and well established connections to the abuses of past decades, but this is not evidence of a conspiracy. As an example, consider MKULTRA's origin at CIA's Technical Services Division under Sidney Gottlieb and Richard Helms. The disturbing aspects of Gottlieb's program were eventually brought before Congress, in spite of Helms' order to destroy the files on topics too disturbing to be known by the average American. Meanwhile, Gottlieb had been funding Dr. Hal Puthoff and Dr. Russell Targ at the Stanford Research Institute, who were covertly testing psychics -- according to the government file record, most of the test subjects involved were unaware of CIA involvement -- to determine if there was any use for mental powers in the cold war with the Soviets. Various other persons from CIA, including CIA's Life Sciences Division, were engaged with the Puthoff-Targ team and their test subjects. Puthoff would later be known for his interest in "extraterrestrial-like" technology, as well as psychic mind research. This thread continues into today's new real-world experimental technologies, including the use of brain scanning equipment to identify or even modify the moral compass of the material mind. And it should be pointed out that intelligence activities are increasingly subcontracted to private intelligence firms, as well as contracted out to researchers like the original Puthoff and Targ team. It is important to reflect upon the fact that we have moved from deep secrets to discussing open research; whereas the goal remains largely the same. The core element for the intelligence community is the human mind and how it responds to manipulation and measurement. It is reasonable to ask if false memories and mental encounters with otherworldly phantasms in so-called alien abductions are on the intelligence community confidential menu. What we observe happening today in the open world may very well be only the tip of the proverbial iceberg of secret and confidential research. The real danger lies in the possibility for taking advantage of the established and legal system of confidences to protect a real conspiracy of illicit and immoral actions. It has happened before; much of that reality remains lost or destroyed. Although it would be foolish to infer conspiracies where none exist, it would be equally foolish to forget the lessons of history.

From the world of psychic spies, paranormal goat killers, and Skinwalkers haunting remote regions of Utah, something wicked and wacky this way comes. Drawn from the files of the private intelligence source STARstream Research: A real-life tall-tale of espionage. At the core, a confrontation at CIA HQ between a former CIA official and officers of the United States Air Force. Twenty years later, the game continues where disturbing worlds collide. The heart of the matter: a US Government UFO Working Group, dark secrets kept in the shadows under the guise of counter-intelligence operations of the United States Air Force, and decades-old rumors of extraterrestrial contact with "something not of this world." The Official's concern: hidden within tales of "Real Life X-Files" a potentially dangerous viral marketing scheme, possibly intended to elicit real classified information from past and present intelligence officers. Stranger still, government files prove that the US government spent decades exploring the paranormal psychic spying, in an effort to "know the future" and beat the Russians, in a race to obtain technologies from beyond our world. This book is a collection of articles and materials originally published on-line by STARstream Research, PR Web, and The American Chronicle, and at the "Spies, Lies, and Polygraph Tape" blog. This is the first time they have been made available in print. Included in this volume is the popular article "To the Moon and Back, With Love," the story of CIA psychic Ingo Swann's extraterrestrial encounters. Also included in this volume: The sixteen part mini-book "Knowing the Future: CIA, 9/11, UFOs, and the Extraterrestrial Presence," about the race to obtain "alien" technologies. |

STARstream Research is a provider of intelligence and analysis on futuristic national and international defense, security and risk developments. STARstream Research is an independent organization that relies on the input of a network of researchers around the world with vested interest in cutting edge and beyond the edge developments in exotic phenomenology and human effects. SSR provides information targeted to members of the defense and intelligence community by offering unique reports that examine topics considered off-limits by other private intelligence organizations. Founded in 2004, STARstream Research / STARpod.org is positioned to offer the public a view of the developing 21st Century, by providing a specialized synthesis of cutting edge information, background material and analysis not available anywhere else on line. A former CIA senior analyst commented: "You do a service. Excellent analysis from what is officially released material needs constancy of theme and purpose, not simply "expose'" morning coffee. You do excellent analysis. I sure as heck am learning things I didn't know, but which fit like my hands in gloves I was shown but never allowed to try and put on."
